Glass Art Beads and Artisan Jewelry by Carli Schultz Kruse

I am an artist working in the medium of art glass, fusing it by heating the glass in a kiln, and lampworking, a method of manipulating glass by melting it in the flame of a torch. As a child my parents took me to Corning Glass, where I watched wizards create amazing objects with glass as it flowed like slow water. The fascination has stayed with me ever since.

Working as a professional web designer for many years, my creations existed only in the ether, and glass is my way of touching and connecting with the world in a tangible form. My experiences in the natural and man-made world inspire my art, but do not define it. The connections bridged between others and myself through my art are equally important, for a piece can be made in an hour, but its relationship to others can last a lifetime.

Sustainability is important to me; I exclusively use a glass made locally and ship in recycled materials whenever possible. I hope to learn more about other materials, metals, bone, wood, recycled glass, stone...it's an eternal, evolving process for me.

My previous career was as a professional webdesigner. Currently I manage Thomas Dolby's site, and serve as his tour manager when he goes out on the road.
