Ok, I have gotten really busy. Not only am I the webmistress of Thomas Dolby's website, now I am his Merch Vendor on tour, and the Tour Manager. PHEW! Seriously. PHEW. This is temporary. It's one of those "gotta do it" things. Life experiences. But it will be over by mid May. I do feel slightly...remorseful at taking my main focus away from glass, even just for a month and a half...and I still will be making things, just at a slower pace. I have some commissions to finish before I leave. But I did find time to make a tour bracelet for me! It says "Hyperactive" on it, one of Thomas' songs. He really likes it, and encouraged me to sell them. I don't have time to make any for Thomas Dolby fans who like their glassy goodies before I leave, so for now a picture of it remains only in the gallery under "bracelets," but I will get them up for sale when I'm back from tour, and I will take orders for them ON tour. The possibilities are endless, whatever I can fit on a square of metal!

Beware the Ides! I did not escape entirely unscathed. But mostly, things are going well. The biggest new is that Big Mama is here! My 18" kiln arrived and was lifted by three burly men to its new home a week ago. If you ever need to move just one heavy thing...call piano movers! It worked wonderfully! I had a great time at the SE Portland Artwalk the first weekend in March, made lots of contacts and sold a little bit of jewelry. The Bead Bowl is always the star of the show! I have some comissions to get going on, intertwined with finishing up a new website for Thomas Dolby, who is going out on tour in less than a month. So it's very busy here, with my old life creeping back in a little while I am ever striving forward with my glass and jewelry, and now metalsmithing as well! Happy Spring!

Happy New Year! It's 2006 and juiceglass is now my priority! I've left the cube and while I am still looking for web work on the side, to keep my chops up and the financial bills happy, I should have more time for glass from here on in. Also, I ordered my new kiln! The Big Mama should show up in a few weeks and I have a nice new round plate mold and candleholder mold waiting for it. It will be so nice to have the space to make larger work!

Fall is coming and juiceglass is ready to rock! The store online is delayed, but with good reason...my first show! I will have a table at a wonderful show in Portland, OR on Nov. 5th. The show is being put on by Ruby Martini, a for profit group of woman artisans. All of the juried artisans in the sale/show will have handcrafted items like jewelry, ceramics, pottery, scarves, clothing, home decor and more! Plus light refreshments! So if you are local, come see me! I'm thrilled/terrified and I have been in the studio everyday making more items to sparkle and shine. Once the show has passed, I will start selling bead sets on Ebay and jewelry and bead sets on my site. Very exciting as we head into winter! I will also be home a lot more soon after the show, so that means more time to make wonderful things and always stretch my glass boundaries!

Wow, some time has gone by since my last update. My glass grinder has arrived, I am starting to use presses to make beads, and my father completed my studio! I had asked him to make me a work bench, and he made me an entire studio! Check out the new digs in the updated studio tour! On the slow side, my cameras needed repair and the studio had to be dismantled to be rebuilt, so the store still is not live. My focus for August is to work on getting basic inventory filled, and concentrating more on kilnforming exploration. Note: I just updated the gallery with a few more items! Happy Hunting!

News, news, news! I have been gifted a glass grinder, which was integral to my working more on fusing and making dishes, intricate pendants, etc. I am so grateful to the kind artist who is passing on her grinder she no longer uses. In other news, I accidentally created a new type of bead, a new style. It's new to me, anyway, and the first thing my little head made up on it's own as I learn more and more about glass. I am calling this sort of bead "Terraform," and there is an example of it in the gallery. A little more experimentation, and these babies should be on deck to sell! I'm just so thrilled to have come up with something new to myself, since I am definitely in learning/apprentice mode and spend a lot of time admiring the work of others and using it as a springboard for inspiration and learning. It's nice to have something come out of inside me to contribute!

I updated the bead and plate and bowl gallery. I need to fix this darn Flash error this week that makes photos jump sideways in the index. In exciting news, my Dad sent me the first drawings of the workbench I am going to help him build this summer in the glass studio. I almost got teary-eyed, it's so nice. I'm never going to move from this house once it's in there!

Work is picking up. The newsletter is doing well, and in a few days, my first necklace giveaway will be live, so keep a watch out for it. Right now I'm nursing a head cold which has kept me off the torch. Bright light, wierd glasses = headaches! :/

Happy Valentine's Day! I have just upated the gallery with a new section, Bead Sets. I have finally started trying to learn how to make sets of beads, instead of willy-nilly colors with no pattern! Updating was a flash to the gallery(pun intended) with my new Apple g4 laptop. The old one was really dying, and it took SO long to make updates. I have started a new links page for artists, so that we can trade the link love around. Got an art site? Link to juiceglass, then tell me about it, and I will happily return the link. The first juiceglass newsletter went out in January, why not sign up today? News, fun, and soon, a drawing for a necklace! Look for that in March!

Happy New Year! Let's hope for a prosperous and happy 2005 for everyone! My newsletter is now live, just click to subscribe and receive a small note every month with news on what juiceglass is up to, any site changes, and fun facts! In time, by being on the newsletter list, special sales, deals and other goodies will be available, and you will have the first (or even only!) crack at 'em! Meanwhile, I'm in the studio as much as I can be when it is so cold. I've got three commissions to take care of, and a couple more wavering on the horizon. I should have an update to the gallery by the end of the month, with new beads and jewelry.

juiceglass.com is almost ready to go live! I should have it up at the latest by January 1, but hopefully a soft launch in the next day or two. The gallery acts strange in some browsers, but hitting refresh usually fixes it. Odd, will have to explore it further.

I'm done! The studio is functioning! It's not much to look at, yet, but it does the job! I have been churning out tons of practice beads as I ramp up to opening my store, and have just received my first commission on a piece! It's hard to stop my friends from wanting to buy something from me, when I am focusing on increasing skills, not sales, but I will always make something on request from a buddy, and not call it finished until it's up to my ever increasing standards of technique and finished quality. In other news, this Friday is the first day of a 4-day class at the Bullseye Resource Center, a class called "Set Your Kiln on Fire!" We will learn ways to combine lampworked elements with fused pieces. Can't wait!

The final steps in the construction are almost complete. All that remains is to fit the ventilation duct through the side wall to the outdoors, and create a path for the propane hose even with the door closed. Propane tanks should always be kept outside, even if it means a hole in your door!

I am very excited to be in the final stages of planning. juiceglass should be up and running by October 1st, both the torch and kiln. Open for practice, that is. While I have some great ideas and future projects to sell, the first months will be focused on settling into the space, and learning. IF you see something you like in the gallery pages, email me about purchases. Nothing is listed for sale because I consider myself a student of the art, focusing on the art itself right now instead of any financial gain (there's a few exceptions to this, as I have some potential clients already with an interest in commissioned work). But if you love something, I am more than willing to sell to you at a fair price. Who am I to keep you from a glittery, shiny thing? I understand! Just email me.
